History

Compass Construction was formed in 1998 and specializes in the construction of mixed-use multi-family buildings in the greater Seattle area. The compass, a symbol of the company, is a tool used to provide direction and ultimately achieve the successful completion of a journey. Compass Construction is the tool that provides direction and success throughout the construction process. Since the formation, Compass has managed the construction of approximately 2,800 residential units in mixed-use projects representing about $400 million of work.

Services

Compass Construction provides service for both General Contracting and Construction Management. Compass General Construction offers all of the advantages of a typical full service general contractor. Compass Construction Management does many of the functions of a general contractor but allows for greater owner involvement and lower fees. The construction management approach is open book and allows for a very collaborative process. It is well suited for a more experienced owner that has a construction background but needs to utilize the experience, personnel, and resources Compass Construction offers.


Leadership

President - Ken Coleman
Ken founded Compass Construction in 1998 and continues to oversee all of Compass's operations. Ken is a graduate of University of Washington with a degree in Environmental Design. Ken's architecture background and 30 years of construction experience as both a superintendent and project management, give him a unique perspective in dissecting plans and coordinating all aspects of construction.

Vice President - Pete Anderson
Pete has been with Compass Construction since 1999 and is the lead estimator for all of Compass's projects. Pete has a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Washington. For the 30 years he has been in construction, his main focus has been private and publicly funded multi-family construction. Pete's previous experience as a project manager, estimator and business owner has given him a well rounded perspective of the numbers side of the construction business.

Vice President / Senior Project Manager - Dan Selin
Dan joined Compass in 2010 and brings with him over 30 years of experience in managing complex projects from conception to move-in. His projects have ranged across the spectrum from multifamily to mixed-use to office/retail and are consistently completed on time and within budget. Dan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction from the University of Washington, which along with his years of field experience, allows him to facilitate the process of integrating the needs of the design, budget, and owner into a seamless construction effort.
